Student Life & Benefits
Studying at APEX should be fun ... in fact, more fun than fun itself. Students are encouraged to form special interest and hobby groups to further their extra curricular development. Various activities are organised by the Academy and the student committees to encourage interaction between students. Many innovative and helpful schemes are launched from time to time to enable all students to make the most of their college years.
» Social & Cultural Committee
This group organises Annual Picnics, Cultural Events, Freshers' Welcome, Farewell parties, and other outings for greater student bonding and team building. The Academy also conducts intra-college competitions and participates in other inter-college fests.
» Newsletter Committee
A bi-annual newsletter is edited and released by the student committee with support from the institution. This includes articles from the students and faculty, current affairs, creative original contributions, interviews, announcements, and many other relevant and interesting insertions.
» Bank Loans
Educational Loans are available to APEX students from all major nationalized banks as well as private banks, subject to them meeting the loan & documentation requirements of the banks. The institute shall assist all students who need financial assistance with the necessary documentation required from the Institution for the processing and disbursement of educational loans.
» Scholarships
Deserving students are provided scholarships strictly based on financial capacity on a case – to – case basis to help them subsidise the cost of education.
» Accommodation
The Institution provides help for outstation students to locate a suitable accommodation near the campus, be it in a hostel or paying guest facility. The Counsellors also help the students get acclimatised to the new city surroundings and ease their transition into their new environment.
» Competitions
Student teams are regularly nominated for various regional and national level competitions like Student Management Games, Quizzes, Debates, and other events. APEX was recently declared the Eastern Region Champion for the National Student Management Games, and placed fifth amongst more than 150 participants at the national finals held in New Delhi.
» Adventure Learning Programs
A major portion of learning can take place outside the classroom -- through situations and activities that call for team work, stress management, decision making, leadership, and other qualities required from a professional. The Academy organises periodic outbound and adventure learning programs by taking students on treks, mountain climbing, river rafting, and other activities to impart this experiential learning.
» Industry Interactions
The Academy maintains a strong network with industries, chambers, organisations, and other social and business associations to access their cooperation and support for various activities.
» Industry Visits & Field Trips
Students are frequently taken on industry and corporate visits to understand the practical implementation of knowledge at the workplace. These are held in and around the city as well as in other towns. Some of the industrial organisations recently visited by the students include TATA Motors, Jayshree Textiles, Titagarh Industries, Tribeni Tissues, Kesoram Rayon, Orissa Cement Limited, Tata Tinplates Limited, Kwality Walls, Pepsi, Brittania, and TISCO amongst others.
» Seminars
APEX organises various seminars and panel discussions related to current topics of interest by inviting eminent speakers from the industry to come and share their views. While these are held for a general and large student audience, some talk-shops are conducted specifically for smaller groups wherein a senior executive / manager comes in to have an informal chat session and share his or her personal experiences.
A host of corporate hotshots like Barun Das of Exide Industries, Rita Bhimani - the PR Expert, Siddharth Pansari of the Pansari Group of Companies, Anamitra Chatterjee of Price Water House Coopers as well as celebrity icons like Nondon Bagchi and Oindrilla Dutt has spoken in to the students in recent seminars organized by APEX. The most recent Talk Show saw corporate big-wigs like Pradip Gooptu, Anton Mukherjee battle their wit with celebrities like Alokananda Roy and Sahana Chatterjee.
» Visiting Lectures
Experts from industry are frequently invited to disseminate lectures and teach on various subjects where considerable practical experience is an added advantage. Students are getting their first exposure to corporate practices in their 'Adda Sessions' with executives from the industry.
» Internships and Projects
There are frequent requests from companies for providing human resources to conduct short term project assignments, internships, and other practical training opportunities. The Academy proactively seeks such liaisons and places students in these partnering organisations, thereby providing a fantastic practical and real life learning platform. The companies that shortlisted students in the current academic year for internship / project work are Hughes Communication, Kotak Insurance, Reliance Insurance, SKP Securities, Anderson Printing House, Jayshree Tea Company, Indiabulls Securities, Nokia, ICICI Prudential etc.
