Are you very confused about your career?
Young people today are both excited and confused by the innumerable career choices. Never before have there been as many career options as there are today. To succeed, therefore, means changing one’s mindset and then sifting through the enormous information overload to find the right path. There are hundreds of options that can be most challenging and fulfilling, from computers, design, travel and tourism, to telecommunications, biotechnology, environmental sciences, and many others. Each offers a diverse spectrum of options that will be benefiting over the years.
The decision of choosing one’s career is the most important one of our lives. Yet it is often made on the basis of unrealistic professional aspirations, inadequate knowledge, parental and societal pressures, and emotional factors that are irrelevant. It is very sad to know that many people around us find themselves in careers that are only remotely associated with their aptitude, skills and desires. They drift into jobs they are unsuited for, and end up dissatisfied, frustrated, over-stressed and often bored. It is very important to take a realistic approach to the choice of your career. Success in a career largely depends on aptitude and interest.
The very first step towards a successful career is to know yourself -- what do you want? Who are you? What are your interests? These are very important questions that need to be answered.
This is exactly where we come in. Our experience has brought us close to many renowned professors, academicians, industrialists, experts and other professionals who have contributed in various ways to our progress and to building careers for all our students.
School and Community Outreach Program in Education (SCOPE) is a programme initiated by APEX as a service to the society, under which we have been conducting Career Aptitude Tests (CAT) for the past four years in Kolkata as well as the neighboring states. Many students have benefited from the test and have been advised about the various career paths in front of them along with the ones best suited to their skills and aptitudes.
The Aptitude Test is of 30 minutes duration and is divided into the following sections, each defining an individual parameter essential to evaluate a specific skill:
- Communication Ability (English Comprehension and Vocabulary)
- Quantitative Ability (Numeric)
- Reasoning Ability (Analytical and Logical)
- Creative Ability (Creativity)
There is a section on General Awareness to test the students’ awareness and topical knowledge. The aptitude test is designed to help the students identify their areas of strength and to make an informed decision about their career. The aptitude of the student determines the field of functioning in which he / she is likely to succeed. A part of the test also evaluates the psychometric profile of the candidate and analyses this along with the individual aptitude to suggest appropriate career streams.
Why should you take the test?
- It is absolutely free
- The test will help you identify your skills, aptitude and talents you may not even be aware of
- The test is informative
- You will receive professional counselling from senior counsellors. Parents and Guardians are encouraged to be part of the guidance process as well
Now it’s your turn – Help us help you realize your dreams.
