The APEX campus was abuzz with activities on April 3, 2007 on the occasion of the annual intra-college fest – UNPLUG 2007 with students both from undergraduate as well as postgraduate level participating in various team and solo events to score on their corporate aptitude and creativity. Activities like Pen-O-Thoughts, Splash of Color, JAM and Laugh Riot were in the solo sections while groups of students flocked to participate in group activities like Street Play, AdZap, Collage Making, Debate, Best Corporate Team and of course, Quizzical. After the official opening of UNPLUG ’07 at the campus by the Dean, the events continued till evening. The award ceremony was presided over by the Director of APEX. The events and the sharp aura of competition ignited the fire within the students once again to look forward to next year’s fest
CRICKET TOURNAMENT
APEXIANS, in the run-up to the World Cup Cricket Tournament in March, flocked to the Maddox Square field on a bright Sunday morning to match their cricketing caliber in an Intra-College Cricket Tournament. 8 teams across the batches bowled, fielded and batted in 3 rounds with the MBA IV batch emerging as the winner.
SARASWATI PUJA
The invocation of the Goddess of Enlightenment took place on the occasion of Basant Panchami on January 23, 2006 at the college premises. APEXIANS beseeched the endowments of the Goddess for powers of speech, wisdom and learning. However the turn-up wasn’t huge as the examinations of the Sikkim Manipal University students were underway.
‘IF FUSION BE THE FOOD FOR LOVE, LET IT PLAY ON’ - - A Talk Show & Rock Show
A Talk cum Rock Show, organised by APEX on November 18 at Vidya Mandir, left the students grooving to the latest as well as a few classic foot-tapping tracks and asking for more. The event started off on a comparatively serious note with celebrity icons Nondon Bagchi and Oindrilla Dutt talking about ‘Fusion - the Food of Love’ with Barun Das. The Talk Show was taken over by the Rock Band ‘Nucleus’ who simply had the entire APEX crowd dancing to their tunes.
COME SEPTEMBER 2006
September is the month to welcome the fresh faces of year at the institute and the APEXIANS did it amidst much fanfare. Neither the waterlogged streets, nor the cloudy sky or the intermittent drizzle all day long could dampen the spirits of the students and the staff members on September 21 and ‘Come September’ was once again a gala event of song, dance, humorous short plays and of course the ramp walk. Mayank Mohta of BBA and Adrija Das of MdBA respectively took away the Mr. and Ms Fresher titles for the year with their dance performances. The group performance on ‘Munnabhai MBA’ by MdBA II had the entire audience in splits. And last but not the least, a group performance by the senior students had the students grooving to ‘Kajra Re’. At the end of the day, there was a loud whisper in the crowd – ‘Gimme more…!’.
SEMINAR cum PANEL DISCUSSION
APEX in collaboration with Calcutta Management Association hosted a panel discussion on "Choosing One’s Own Career Path" at the Birla Academy of Fine Arts on February 25, 2006. A host of corporate hot-shots like Barun Das of Exide Industries, Rita Bhimani, the PR Expert, Siddharth Pansari of the Pansari Group of Companies and Anamitra Chatterjee of Price Water House Coopers spoke to a mixed audience of APEXIANS and external students. Dr. N R Banerjee, Vice Chancellor of BE College, Shibpur, moderated the entire event.
PICNIC
Amidst much funfair and merriment, The APEXIANS went for a day-out to the lush greenery and wide blue sky of the IBIZA Club on February 12, 2006. True were the claims of the officials at locale: at IBIZA even elders become like children. And that is just what happened to the students of APEX – they ran and pranced about and played and thoroughly enjoyed themselves in the sylvan settings. Of course food formed a very important part of the picnic and that too was highly satisfactory to the gourmets.
