Studying at APEX should be fun … in fact, more fun than fun itself. Students are encouraged to form special interest and hobby groups to further their extra curricular development. Various activities are organised by the Academy and the student committees to encourage interaction between students. Many innovative and helpful schemes are launched from time to time to enable all students to make the most of their college years.
Social & Cultural Committee
This group organises Annual Picnics, Cultural Events, Freshers' Welcome, Farewell parties, and other outings for greater student bonding and team building. The Academy also conducts intra-college competitions and participates in other inter-college fests.
Newsletter Committee
A monthly newsletter is edited and released by the student committee with support from the institution. This includes articles from the students and faculty, current affairs, creative original contributions, interviews, announcements, and many other relevant and interesting insertions.
Bank Loans
The Institution has a tie-up with leading banks to provide loans at concessional interest rates to students who need financial assistance. APEX shall help all students with the processing and disbursement of the loans. Loans are available to all students subject to them meeting the loan & documentation requirements of the banks.
Scholarships
Deserving students are provided scholarships strictly on a merit basis to help them subsidise the cost of education. APEX has its own scholarship test, but often considers performance in other competitive examinations as a fair indicator of the candidates' calibre. Tests are followed by personal interviews to understand the overall ability of the candidate.
Course Fee Insurance
All students are insured for the accidental demise of the earning member of the family. In such an unfortunate event, the Insurer shall take care of the remainder of the course fee along with providing the student an amount of Rs. 50,000/- as additional support.
Accommodation
The Institution provides help for outstation students to locate a suitable accommodation near the campus, be it in a hostel or paying guest facility. The Counsellors also help the students get acclimatised to the new city surroundings and ease their transition into their new environment.
Competitions
Student teams are regularly nominated for various regional and national level competitions like Student Management Games, Quizzes, Debates, and other events. APEX was declared the Eastern Region Champion for the National Student Management Games, 2003, and placed fifth amongst more than 150 participants at the national finals held in New Delhi.
Incubation Centre
Realising the need for continuous support and hand-holding, the academy has undertaken an initiative to develop entrepreneurial and employable skills in the students. Students with business ideas and propensity for venturing out on their own are provided support facilities in terms of project reports, idea guidance, project implementation and other such activities. On the other hand, students who are looking for employment are given trainee opportunities and access to various work environment simulations to acclimatise them with the real world situations. The Website Management Group is one example of such an initiative where a student committee maintains and updates the academy's website, thereby learning the skills associated with working in a dynamic business environment.
Adventure Learning Programs
A major portion of learning can take place outside the classroom -- through situations and activities that call for team work, stress management, decision making, leadership, and other qualities required from a professional. The Academy organises periodic outbound and adventure learning programs by taking students on treks, mountain climbing, river rafting, and other activities to impart this experiential learning. |
